Add Face Holes
Drill holes through the selected face of the hollow section
Face holes are available on one face only. For other hole requirements, please submit a steel enquiry. Every multi-hole pattern runs between the selected end clearances. Adjacent holes retain a clear gap at least equal to the selected hole size. Choose either the centre spacing or the number of holes as the driver; the other value is calculated. 450mm and 600mm are preferred centres, and custom centres are available when needed. Centre spacing sets the pattern. The number of holes and exact even centres are calculated to reach both ends.

Square hollow sections are also commonly known as box section and are mainly used as post supports on a range of structures. Square hollow sections (SHS) are described by their depth, width and wall thickness for example in 100 x 100 x 10 the 10 mm represents the wall thickness of the SHS. The square hollow section we stock is cold formed with the joint seam welded on the inside of the section.

Choose your square hollow section size and enter the required cut length from 1,000mm to 7,500mm in the order builder. Select the available finish and fabrication options, then review the specification and date before adding it to your order.

About Square Hollow Section

Hollow steel beams are structural elements that are used in construction and engineering. They are typically made from steel plate that is rolled into a beam shape and welded together along the seam. The interior of the beam is hollow, which makes it lighter in weight than a solid beam of the same size and material. This can make them easier to handle and transport, as well as less expensive to produce. Hollow steel beams are used in a variety of applications, including as support beams in buildings, bridges, and other structures. They can also be used in the construction of machinery and equipment. The strength and stiffness of hollow steel beams can be controlled by the thickness of the steel plate and the size of the beam, as well as the shape of the cross-section.
